Religion of peace?

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

An Arab man has been sentenced to death by a Palestinian Authority court for aiding Israeli security forces in their battle against terrorists who have for decades scuttled all prospects of peace.

The 24-year-old condemned man was originally recruited by Israeli security when he was a teenager working at a gas station. He was tasked with helping identify Arab assailants who were frequently stoning Jewish motorists in the Hebron area.

A few years later the young man joined the Palestinian Authority security forces, and from there helped the Israelis identify and find two wanted terrorists, who were subsequently eliminated.

Like dozens of others over the past decade, the man was sentenced under a 1979 law that makes cooperation with Israeli security forces a crime punishable by death. The Palestinian Authority continues to enforce that law despite having signed a peace agreement with Israel that obligates it to cooperate with the Israelis in combatting Palestinian terrorism.

The death sentence will not be carried out before receiving the approval of Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.

And these are our Peace partners! Wake up!

When will Israel respond?

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

Between the lines, we can understand that the sane Arab world objects to Hamas’ conduct, even if quietly. If there is a sort of consensus in the Arab world regarding who should not be “ruling the territories,” the answer is Hamas. Therefore, the repeated question is: How long will Israel show restraint? How far would Israel let Hamas go? That is, when will Israel announce its intention to deliver a powerful blow against Hamas leaders and its organizational infrastructure (Ynet)?

In this excellent article Moshe Elad is asking the question why Israel is not responding to the ongoing provocations by Hamas. What do you think? When will Israel respond?
