Assad: Israel is the ‘greatest obstacle’ to peace

Syrian President Bashar Assad on Saturday said Israel poses the “greatest obstacle” to Mideast peace and warns that the failure of negotiations would give the right to resist the occupation. (Jerusalem Post)

I guess it would be so much easier to have peace if Israel wouldn’t be on the map.

  • Jihad began long before the crusades. The crusades were a relative short lived (200 years) and ineffective response to jihad upon southern and eastern Europe. "For most of the 1400 years of Islamic history, Jihad has been most commonly interpreted as ARMED struggle for the advancement or defense of Muslim power." (B. Lewis)

Maybe jihad is not so commonly interpreted this way today, but a significant number still believe in that concept. Perhaps this is why the Muslim world is so sensitive to the word, 'crusade'.

  • Jihad = (crusade) ?! what sort of ignaorance or forgery woud that be ?! if you want to know about cusades or any mere truth simple visit :

  • ALL of Israel is sitting on Muslim land that will remain Islamic land forever. The ONLY way peace can be obtained is if Israel ceased to exist. The big problem here is that peace would not be obtained even then. Even if the U.S. were to withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan, peace would not follow. For at least two reasons:

    1) Jihad (crusade) cannot end until the entire world 'adopts Islam or is subjected to Muslim rule'.
    2) The penalty for leaving Islam is death. Internal warfare will continue because somewhere someone will ALWAYS differ in fundamental ways. Therefore they will have left Islam. Look at how long the Sunni/Shitte sectarian warfare has gone on. If they have been unable to resolve this difference by now, I find it very difficult to believe that they ever will. As you add more people by conversion and expansion, the problem will only become larger.

For years we heard about Israel's "occupation" of "palestine" whereas the world press virtually ignored the brutal occupation of Lebanon by Syria. Lebanese women were raped and shot, civilians were massacred and politicians were assassinated.
