US Congress green lights Israeli raid on Iran

From Press TV:

Republicans in the US House of Representatives have introduced a measure that would green-light a possible Israeli bombing campaign against Iran.

Resolution 1553 provides explicit support for military strikes against Iran, stating that Congress backs Israel’s use of ‘all means necessary’ against Iran, “including the use of military force,” BBC Persian reported.

The introduction of the measure coincides with a pattern of renewed calls for military strikes that have escalated since President Obama signed Congressional Iran sanctions into law.

Republicans are the minority in both houses of the U.S. Congress. They are simply going on record, although I am certain that if Republicans were the majority, they would at least attempt to follow up. I wish our Congress was more decisive. Today, instead of declaring war, they 'authorize' the use of force. This way, they can change their minds, just in case. They don't have to follow the war to its conclusion if they don't want to.

As much as I would like our government to back this measure up, I find it most improbable that anything will come from it. I just do not see President Obama backing Israel up in just about any conflict.
