From the Herald Tribune:
An Egyptian security official says a man allegedly smuggling gasoline into Gaza burned to death in a tunnel.
The official says police saw flames and smoke coming from what later turned out to be a tunnel entrance. They pulled two men from the tunnel.
The tunnels are used to smuggle food, supplies and weapons into the blockaded strip.
And now Reuters:
An Egyptian man was killed and two men were injured Friday in a fire which broke out in a fuel tank at the Egyptian end of a pipeline used for smuggling basic supplies to the Gaza Strip, police sources said.
And this is how the Arab Media is reporting the incident:
Israeli media sources said that two Egyptians sustained burns after a pipeline exploded in an underground smuggling tunnel between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
Did you noticed? The Herald Tribune at least mentions that those tunnels are used to smuggle weapons. For Reuters those tunnels are used to smuggle basic supplies (I wonder if weapons are basic supplies?) At least for Maan News it’s just a smuggling tunnel – no mention of what is smuggled into Gaza.
