Iranian candidate slams Ahmadinejad

Mohammad Khatami’s Web site quotes him as saying the “current situation (in ) is not desirable.” Khatami warns that if it continues, the country’s “social capital and international reputation will be damaged even more.” (JP)

I wonder if Khatami is any kind of moderate. He would certainly not be allowed to run if so. He probably has the same policies as Ahmedinejad only he’s not as loud-mouthed about it. He probably just wants to appease the West.
