UN Security Council calls for immediate halt to Gaza violence

The United Nations Security Council called early on Sunday for an immediate end to all violence in Gaza after the death toll climbed past 270 on the second day of Israeli air strikes in retaliation for rocket and mortar fire by Gaza militants.

I do not remember the UN or anybody else calling for an immediate halt to Qassam rockets against Israel!

  • A fellow human.

We should always ask why, when anything happens. ,"why do they shoot qassam rockets". We should always ask important questions that go deeper than only 1 level to find the deeply rooted reasons behind any action an individual or group commits.

You are not dumb, and nor am I. The reason is because they are starving to death in behind a wall.

Next. collective punishment (punishing 1.5 million people due to some groups and some people doing bad things, and I agree with you firing the rockets is a terrible thing), is illegal by the Geneva Conventions and International Law.

Finally, do you really think killing 300 people and injuring over a thousand people is going to help anyone? Psychologicla studies show, that violence, simply breeds more violence. The Hamas were created and elected and really came to power after some of the massive killings of palestinians that gave rise to their uprisings. It really makes you guys look bloodthirsty, which I know most israelis are not.

I thought I would leave some comments here not so we can debate over things, but maybe have some dialogue and broaden both your mind and mine.

  • I guess you can look at this in different ways. On FOX news they only ever show attacks against Israel when the attacks go both ways,

  • Supposedly because with the military, you can get them to restrain themselves because they take orders from the civilian government. With terrorism, you can't be held responsible for their actions.

To a limited degree, this is correct. However, the populaion has elected HAMAS with a very large majority. And EVERYONE knows what HAMAS is.

I have more bad news for Israel. Our new President-elect is no friend of yours. I wish like hell it was different, but you can expect to be on your own after he takes office.
